Since studying photography at PSC (Photography Studies College) Karen has developed a passion for taking beautiful abstract images using organic subject matter such as flowers and plants with unusual or interesting foliage.

As a member of the Horticultural Media Association, Karen has received two highly commended awards in the Joy Harland Memorial Photographic Competition, and has had work published in various gardening magazines, and on the cover of the 2007 Melbourne Flower and Garden Show program.

Karen works as a stylist assistant and sells images and cards to florists and nurseries and has sold images at art shows such as the Linden Postcard Show and in a number of group shows.

Artist Statement

With the use of close up and macro photography my aim is to explore the shape, form, and colour of interesting flowers and objects to create abstract images which encourage curiosity and engage the viewer.

I love creating images with a unique quality that are bold, vibrant and have the strength to inspire people. I also enjoy incorporating movement and the sensual nature of flowers to create images with the feeling of floating fabric.
